Diabetes Natural Treatment – A vegetarian delight.

Some vitamins and minerals that are not present in sufficient quantity in a western diet need to be replaced with other low G.I.foods ;

Cherry Tomatoes

Super Food

* calcium
* potassium
* fiber
* magnesium
* vitamins A , C, and E.

Veggies just leave out the fish.

Beans – Navy,black,pinto or kidney provide high vitamin values.
Citrus – Grapefruit, oranges, lemons and limes. Choose  your favorites and get part of your daily allowance of soluble fiber and vitamin C.
Green vegetables – Spinach,cabbage, collards, kale – these are power foods and are so low in calories and carbohydrates, you can eat as much as you like.
Sweet potatoes – A vegetable full of vitamin A and fiber. Use in place of ordinary potatoes for a lower GI alternative.
Berries – A choice of: blueberries, strawberries or raspberries? Regardless, they are all overflowing with antioxidants, vitamins and fiber. Make a tasty treat mixing the fruit with a light, non-fat yogurt or low fat creme for a treat of a dessert.
Tomatoes – Spoiled for choice, lot’s of varieties.  No matter how you like your tomatoes, pureed,cooked, raw, or in a sauce, you’re eating pure goodness, like vitamin C, iron, vitamin E.
Fish – The oily ones that are high in omega 3, salmon and mackerel being the popular ,steam bake or poach,keep off the breadcrumbs and batter don’t fry.
Wholegrains -    Contains all the nutrients that a grain product can offer.  Processed grains like bread made from treated wheat flour,  don’t give you these. Other nutrients in the grain are magnesium, chromium, omega 3 fatty acids and foliate.Pearled barley and oatmeal are good for  fiber and potassium.
Nuts – A small handful of nuts can go a long way in providing key  fats as well as being used as an healthy snack. Other benefits include magnesium and fiber.Some nuts and seeds, like walnuts and flax seeds,  contain omega-3 fatty acids.
Low Fat Milk/Yogurt – Dairy does help build strong bones and teeth. In addition to calcium, other types of dairy products are a top source of vitamin D. New research is emerging with the connection between vitamin D and good health.

Some of these items can be expensive, depending on the season and where you live. Keep an eye out for lower cost options such as fruit and vegetables in season or frozen , canned fish can be very good .More research here
